Energy Innovation Challenge

A great idea starts with a great connection — and that's exactly what this networking party set out to spark. Co-organised with the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES), this session brought together student participants and their assigned mentors for an afternoon of teamwork, creativity, and turbo-charged fun.

We kicked things off with a lively icebreaker: building the tallest tower out of drinking straws, pushing each team’s engineering instincts and collaborative skills into overdrive. The highlight, however, was the Tamiya-inspired segment — where teams built their own race cars from scratch and tested them on a custom race track. It was all about strategy, speed, and working in sync.

What started as a simple networking session turned into a high-octane team bonding experience, laying the groundwork for stronger mentor-student collaboration throughout the Energy Innovation Challenge.
